Practical guide
Moonveil: check readiness before changing your build
Compare your attributes with Moonveil's requirements, separate temporary bonuses and choose the next acquisition or preparation step.

Practical guide
Can I switch to Moonveil now, and what is still missing?
Compare your attributes with Strength 12, Dexterity 18 and Intelligence 23. Passing these requirements permits this use check; it does not prove Moonveil is stronger than your current weapon.
When this applies
Moonveil's basic attribute requirements and acquisition in the base game. Use a direct attribute comparison; two-handing bonuses, damage scaling, upgrades and full build optimization are outside this guide.
Before you start
- Record your base Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence separately from temporary bonuses. A requirement met only with a bonus may fail when that bonus ends.
- Confirm whether you already own Moonveil. If you do not, check access to Gael Tunnel in Caelid before planning an equipment switch.
Keep beside the game
For each attribute, the missing amount is max(0, requirement − current attribute). Do not add a negative deficit or treat one attribute's surplus as covering another attribute's shortage.
| Requirement | Current | Still needed | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strength | 12 | 14 | 0 |
| Dexterity | 18 | 13 | 5 |
| Intelligence | 23 | 9 | 14 |
A starting Vagabond has Strength 14, Dexterity 13 and Intelligence 9. The missing amounts are 0, 5 and 14 respectively: 19 additional attribute points in total for this direct comparison.
Moonveil weighs 6.5. That is the weapon's weight, not your complete equipment load. Add the rest of your equipped items before making a load decision.
Where to go
Moonveil is obtained by defeating the Magma Wyrm in Gael Tunnel, Caelid. It is a base-game weapon and does not require a separate DLC. The rear entrance door is optional route preparation, not an additional weapon requirement.
A temporary pass can hide a base-attribute shortfall
Suppose you own Moonveil with base attributes 12 / 13 / 18 and observed temporary bonuses 0 / 5 / 5, in Strength / Dexterity / Intelligence order. This arithmetic example does not prescribe a particular bonus source.
| Base attributes | Observed temporary bonus | Attributes with the bonus | Requirement | Base attributes · Still needed | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strength | 12 | 0 | 12 | 12 | 0 |
| Dexterity | 13 | 5 | 18 | 18 | 5 |
| Intelligence | 18 | 5 | 23 | 23 | 5 |
Why the result changes
The active values 12 / 18 / 23 meet the requirements. Without the bonuses, Dexterity is short by 5 and Intelligence by 5. A surplus in another attribute cannot pay either deficit; the base-attribute shortfall totals 10 points.
Check this in game
Compare base values with the effect removed. Do not enter an already boosted displayed value as base and add the bonus again. Check ownership and full equipment load separately.
Your next steps
- If you already own the weapon, calculate the missing attributes before spending levels or changing equipment.
- If you do not own it, locate Gael Tunnel in Caelid and prepare for its Magma Wyrm encounter. This guide identifies the acquisition target, not a guaranteed safe route or boss victory.
- After obtaining the weapon and meeting the requirements, check your full equipment load and try the moveset. Requirement compliance is not a damage ranking.
When the result is different
| Condition | Result and next action |
|---|---|
| Owned and base requirements met | The direct attribute check passes. Check your full load and preferred play style before switching. |
| Owned but an attribute is short | Plan the exact missing attributes. Keeping the current weapon until then is a valid option. |
| Requirements met only with a temporary bonus | Record that dependency. Check again when the bonus ends. |
| Not owned or acquisition access uncertain | Resolve the acquisition step or access uncertainty first; a stat plan does not grant the item. |
| Condition | Result and next action |
|---|---|
| The displayed attributes seem enough but use changes | Check whether a temporary effect ended and whether you compared the intended attributes. |
| A planner says the level cost is zero | Check whether you changed its target attributes. An unchanged target is not evidence that this transition needs no investment. |
What this does not establish
No rune-cost estimate, AR forecast, best-build claim or combat guarantee is made. The starting-class example is not a recommended universal allocation. Choose investments in the context of the rest of your build.
