Bought the DLC, but cannot use it? Find the missing condition

An expansion can belong to your account without being ready in the game. Check what you own, what has arrived and where the content should appear before buying again or reinstalling.

For Steam DLC on your own account. Shared copies, in-game purchases, currencies and standalone soundtracks may follow different rules.

Identify the content and its delivery state

  1. Compare the exact DLC and required base game on its store page with your library. A similarly named edition or sequel is not confirmation. Check that the content has been released and is included in your purchase.
  2. In the base game's Steam properties, inspect the DLC list and installation state. If the purchase is missing, confirm the signed-in account and purchase record privately before contacting Steam Support. Do not post payment details publicly.
  3. If the DLC is listed, check any installation control and pending Downloads. Follow the game's instructions: some content is already in the base installation, while other content downloads separately. No separate download does not, by itself, prove a failure.

Check the promised result inside the game

  1. Read the DLC's access instructions. It may require a particular menu, quest progress, character or a separate file outside the game. Do not assume every expansion appears as a new game in the library.
  2. Complete any required transfer, follow documented restart or activation steps, and check the named content in the stated place. Record what you can confirm: listed, installed, access condition met, result visible.
  3. If the result is still missing, give the relevant support team the game and DLC names, version, exact error and last confirmed step. File verification cannot grant ownership or complete a quest requirement.

Installed expansion, locked entrance

Illustrative case: the DLC is listed as installed, but its instructions require finishing a quest that this character has not completed. Confirm that condition first. Another download cannot complete the quest.

Bought an artbook, expecting a new menu

Illustrative case: the purchased DLC is an artbook, and its instructions identify a file location. Open that location and check the document. A missing in-game menu is not evidence that the artbook failed to install.

Limits and exceptions

This page cannot inspect licenses, settle a purchase dispute or confirm a specific game's unlock rules. When ownership or delivery is unclear, keep it unconfirmed instead of treating a reinstall as proof.

Match the exact purchase, confirm delivery, then check the documented access condition and visible result.
