What your save evidence can show

Separate where a save copy is stored from what it contains. These cases show how a familiar label or another copy can leave important questions unanswered.

These invented teaching cards describe the stated conditions. They are not a Steam conflict dialog or an inspection of your saves.

Local changes with your viewpoint

You are looking at device B. Each card's progress is given as a fact of this example; no actual files were checked.

B's copy. Looking from A would make A's copy local, without changing either copy's contents.

The supplied cards place the observatory progress on B. Hide the progress descriptions and you can still identify the local device, but you can no longer locate the desired progress. A cloud label or a later timestamp cannot fill that missing evidence.

Next useful check

Identify the device showing your warning and the progress you want. Follow the game's guidance to preserve available copies before deciding which content matches. Do not choose by timestamp alone.

Scroll the evidence table horizontally if it does not fit your screen.

Computer ABridge builtThis copy contains progress X.
Handheld BObservatory reachedThis copy contains progress Y; Y is not assumed to include X.
CloudBridge builtThe cloud card contains X in this example.
Which copy does local identify when you are looking at B?
  1. B's copy
  2. A's copy
  3. Whichever copy has more progress

B's copy

Copies and earlier states are different counts

R0 means before a route choice; R1 means after it. This teaching model replaces whole state cards and adds no automatic history or merging.

0. Adding another R1 copy would still leave no listed R0 copy.

The comparison adds one known earlier state. It does not prove a real file can be restored: required files, readability and compatibility still matter. If a copy's contents are unknown, its state is unknown too.

Next useful check

Distinguish a separately preserved earlier state from current synchronized copies. Screenshots and file lists record evidence, not save contents. Use game-specific preservation guidance before considering replacement.

Scroll the evidence table horizontally if it does not fit your screen.

Build a defensible description

  1. Name the device and storage location for each observation.
  2. Separate confirmed content, remembered progress and unknowns.
  3. Preserve available copies before acting on a content comparison.

What these cases cannot establish

The cards do not reproduce every game's synchronization, history, saving or recovery behavior.

This page reads no files and selects, deletes or restores nothing. Unlisted real copies may exist; their condition is unverified.

Describe the location, the known content and the missing evidence before making a save decision.
