Where did my game go? Check which part is missing

A title can be absent from the current library view without its files being lost. Start with the account and purchase evidence, then check visibility and access before changing an installation.

For locating a Steam game or explaining why access needs another check. This page cannot inspect your account, complete a purchase or restore a license.

Separate the account from the library view

  1. Match the exact game and edition to the account used for the purchase or activation. Check your private receipt and account details; a familiar profile name alone does not establish the purchasing account. Keep receipts and account identifiers out of public posts.
  2. In the desktop Steam client's Library for that account, clear the search and restrictive filters, including an installed-only view. Check Hidden Games from Steam's View menu. If the title is hidden, use its Manage action to stop hiding it; this changes visibility, not ownership.

Check the purchase or access that remains unresolved

  1. For a Steam-store purchase, inspect the relevant entry in Steam's purchase history. A pending or unsuccessful transaction is different from a completed purchase. If the item is DLC, look under its matching base game. For a retail key, confirm that it was activated on this account; having a key or downloaded files is not the same as an active license here.
  2. If the purchase completed on the correct account but the title is still absent, sign out and back in only when you can sign in again. For a previously shared game, check current sharing access. If it remains unresolved, contact Steam Support with the purchase and account evidence through its private support flow. Rebuying or reinstalling is not a diagnosis.

Choose the check that matches the evidence

Files remain, but the active account asks to purchase

Illustrative case: a game is installed, but the current account shows a purchase button and your receipt belongs to another account. Confirm access through the purchasing account. Reinstalling the same files does not transfer its license.

The purchase is still pending

Illustrative case: a game is absent and its purchase entry is pending. Check that transaction's status and support instructions. Changing library filters or downloading files cannot turn a pending transaction into a completed purchase.

Visibility and access are separate results

Finding a hidden title establishes where it is listed. It does not prove that a purchase completed, shared access continues, saves are present or every game mode works. Support must resolve account-specific access questions.

Match the account, clear the view, then check the purchase or shared access that is still unconfirmed.
